Agriculture Minister Shalom Simhon (Labor) complained last week that his party colleagues stifle criticism of the peace process. Anyone in the party who raises questions about Labor's accepted peace process positions since the signing of the Oslo Accords is "depicted either as an incipient right-winger. . . or as a dishrag who sucks up to Sharon in order to keep his seat in the cabinet." Speaking at a policy discussion meeting held for kibbutz and moshav representatives on Thursday in Tel Aviv, Simhon said that "the Labor Party has become tied to one policy path that has not been re-evaluated in view of new realities, and I think that's a mistake."
